In the current build today-

what you can install and use right this minute.

Universal UPnP library Browse and play from MinimServer, Plex, Asset UPnP, and any generic UPnP/DLNA server on your network. Bit-perfect through to the renderer.
MinimServer · Plex · Asset UPnP
Folder browsing Walk the server's folder hierarchy exactly as it sits on disk - for libraries curated by folder structure rather than tags, the way audiophiles have organised music for decades.
High-resolution playback PCM up to 24/768, native DSD up to DSD512. Local software-decode pipeline for DSD plus DoP / native pass-through to capable renderers.
Rockna · Lumin · Linn · Eversolo · WiiM
Internet radio Radio Klassu, Naim Radio, Radio Paradise and friends out of the box. ICY metadata, M3U / PLS parsing, MP3 / AAC / FLAC / Ogg Vorbis. On OpenHome streamers Serento drives the renderer's own Radio service - the same path the manufacturer's app uses - so a station plays as a continuous broadcast the streamer sustains itself, with the live now-playing track read straight from the renderer's ICY parser, instead of the generic transport that some audiophile streamers stall or loop on.
Native OpenHome Radio · Live metadata · Hand-picked presets
Renderer control OpenHome autonomous queue when supported, AVTransport as a fallback. Volume, source switching, on-device output when nothing else is around.
iPad layout Browse your library and control playback at the same time. A persistent sidebar keeps every section one tap away, the grid shows more albums per row, and the mini-player stays anchored at the bottom so playback never disappears behind a stack of pushed screens.
macOS native app Same Swift codebase, desktop-optimised. Native NavigationSplitView sidebar, custom Mac sheet layer with backdrop-tap dismiss, persistent mini-player anchored to the window bottom, and a hover-state system across every list, tab and action button. Built so it never feels like an iPad port.
Universal binary · Apple Silicon · macOS 26+
Bookmarks Save any filtered view of your library - Hi-Res Jazz, FLAC from 2023, a specific genre or album you keep coming back to - and jump straight to it later without re-applying filters every time.
Tags Group albums into your own ad-hoc collections. Tag once, then browse the tag like any other shelf. Synced across every device on the same Apple ID.
Listen Later Save albums, tracks and artists you want to come back to. Two lanes - Up Next and Listened - so you always know what's queued and what you've already covered.
Synced lyrics Timestamped lyrics from Serento's database. Karaoke-style display in Now Playing for tracks with available transcripts.
Album version grouping Collapse remasters, reissues and format variants of the same album under one cover. Pick any version as the main one from its detail screen and the choice syncs across every device.
User-marked main versions sync via iCloud
Your tags come first Serento trusts the tags already in your files before reaching out to fill anything in. Beyond the standard title, artist, album and genre, it reads MusicBrainz identifier tags - matching a tagged album, track or artist to the exact release instead of guessing from a search - and the classical Work and Movement tags, so a multi-movement work stays grouped and in order with the right movement names, no online lookup needed. When your library already carries the answer Serento uses it, and only reaches its database for what's genuinely missing.
Standard tags · MusicBrainz identifiers · Work & Movement
Bios, reviews and credits Rich biographical content and canonical catalog metadata from Serento's database, layered on top of your existing library. Artist bios, album reviews, release years, record labels, genres, plus per-track credits like performers, composers and lyricists. Pulled in the background, cached locally, never overwriting tags your library already supplies.
Bios · Catalog data · Per-track credits
Album identification Correct an album's details and cover yourself, or let a sync pass do it in bulk. Open Identify Album to pick the right release from Serento's database - title, artist, year, genre, track titles, plus a cover, each one swappable - and the correction layers on top of your read-only server tags without rewriting the files, then syncs across your devices. Or switch on Identify Albums in Sync Data and Serento fills the gaps automatically as it syncs, only where information is missing, matching against Serento's database and pulling front covers.

Smart playlists Auto-generated playlists our recommendation engine builds from your own listening history - weighted by how often and how recently you play, then balanced across genre, era and codec so each one opens a different way back into your library.
Listening history · Genre · Era · Codec
Downloads Tap Download on any album, track, or playlist and the files copy from your server to the device's local storage. When you play with this iPhone, iPad or Mac as the destination, Serento reads the local copy instead of streaming - same bit-perfect pipeline, zero network. Background queue survives app kill, resumes mid-file after disconnects, and stays paused while the source server is offline. Downloads are per-device and excluded from iCloud Backup. A dedicated Downloads view in Settings shows the queue, storage used per server, and per-album removal controls.
Per-album · Per-track · Per-playlist · Resumable
Sync across devices Playback state - the current track, queue and volume - mirrors between every Serento device on the same network driving the same renderer: start a queue on iPhone, pick it up on the Mac, adjust volume from the iPad, all in lockstep with no master / follower roles. Everything personal to your library syncs too - playlists, My Mixes, favorites, listen-later and play history - the moment you change it, near-instant over the local network, with iCloud carrying it across devices that aren't on the same network.
Queue & volume · Playlists · Mixes · Favorites
Classical music A dedicated classical section that finally fits the repertoire: browse by composer, work, conductor, orchestra, soloist, period or musical form instead of one flat artist list. Open any work to see every recording you own gathered side by side, with movements kept in order and credits split by role. Composer bios and portraits, work histories and catalogue numbers are pulled in the background from Serento's database, and the whole section stays out of the way until your library actually has classical music in it.
Composer · Work · Recording
Scheduled & background maintenance Keep your library fresh without babysitting it. A long sync or metadata enrich now carries on in the background when you leave the app, and resumes where it stopped instead of starting over. You can also schedule the whole thing: pick an hour, say after you've stopped listening for the night, and choose what runs - a library sync, an enrich pass, or both. Serento only begins after your chosen time and only while the phone is charging and on Wi-Fi, so it never fights you for bandwidth or battery mid-listen.
Pick the hour · Sync, enrich, or both · Charging + Wi-Fi
Multi-language support Serento in your language: the whole interface localised, every screen, setting and empty state, plus artist, album and classical texts fetched in your language with an English fallback.
Română · Deutsch · Français · Italiano · Español · 简体中文 · 日本語 · 한국어 · Polski · Português · 繁體中文
